Yes, I have also mentioned that I increased the pragma version from 0.5.3 to 0.8.0, which is why this error is shown.
The question is what change do I need to make to compile the same contract with 0.8.0.

Well, actually nothing. ERC1820 registry contract successfully compiles with 0.8.0. Are you sure that you haven't changed the code?

yeah, you are right, It's compiling fine, I might have removed something while removing the comments :(
