How are scam tokens using CHI to profit? They are rife on BSC. Scam token airdropped. When approved to use on pancake/1inch, the contract somehow transfers CHI to scammers wallet. How?

I have got my head around honeypot scams, how to spot and avoid them. Fake locked liquidity etc but this one has me totally stumped.

It is an extremely high gas fee for an approval function. I dont understand how people fall for these. Airdropped out of nowhere, scammy name/site and high gas fees along with obviously fake charts/transaction history.

seems the approve function of this contract is minting the CHI, don't know why, i cannot also read contracts with the decompiler, but seems it's the classic scam token that seek for allowance scams from their websites

yeah ive read that people who go to the website the coin is named are complaining of phising and allowances/depleting account. What I found more interesting though are those who are being scammed on the dex like pancake. tbh when I saw my account had $1000 of some random airdropped token I was stoked. I went to that 'website' and alarm bells rang, didnt interact. Then I figured well nothing can go wrong if I only interact via pancake and then the approval fee was like $16 at the time which I didnt have available and it slowed me down to put my thinking cap on and DYOR and it was clearly a scam.

Now I am trying to learn how to read contracts and kind of figure out what they are and how they work etc

You can't. 😆 Or at least, you already need the allowance from the user, gained probably from the Dapp

trust wallet doesn't warn you about allowance, metamask always tell you what's the token and the allowance amount

lot of ppl get scammed by approving BUSD/USDT on dapps, from what i saw those months, at least it's my idea, i always hear "nono i did nothing, never connected to anything"
Then i see like 85 approve on 750 different contracts
