eh, he's currently in a situation where he has to make a decision to embrace the CCP or the US government, for the financial future of his company. He can not have both, due to the nature of his work through spaceX with the US government. If he chooses to work with china deeper, he loses his security clearances and US government contracts (which collapses his real product... stock) and then given his somewhat less than stable and emotional personality (rofl, I can relate a bit there) the CCP will have an edge at coercing information out of him in exchange for beneficial deals (which are already on the table, free factories even) which will lead to the USA declaring him a national security risk and bringing him into custody.
