They simply run a node and each user gets its wallet on the node. Sometimes you even have to generate the address manually as a user, by clicking a button on your balance overview.

Generating manually you mean from Coinbase account for example?

No, they simply run a btc/eth/... node and for each user, they create a new account/wallet there

This is for example Mist, a full ETH node. By clicking "add account" you simply create a new wallet on that node. This is how they do it (automatically ofc)

I mean, i don’t run any node but can still create wallet accounts
